The movement or relocation of individuals, families and groups from our country of birth to a new home has been taking place since history began. Some embark on this journey as an escape from persecution, poverty and/or violence. Others feel pulled by the spirit of adventure. All are fueled by the hope of finding something, which could not be found  in our land of origin.

Some only need to spend a short time in a new location. Finding what they needed, they are then ready to return to their place of birth with new skills and experiences. Others never return, finding in a new land something they could not find in their place of birth. The rest keep searching, learning new things as they travel.

The Psychological Astrology of Relocation can help you to understand what draws you to particular geographic locations at different times in your life and how these experiences help you to open in a new way to undeveloped aspects of yourself. Moving to a new location wakes up different facets of your personality resulting in a variety of emotional responses to your new Home.

Astrologically when you move to a new geographic place for a period of time the planets or gods in your chart  are given the opportunity to express themselves in a different arena of your life. It does not change your natal chart - if your Natal Sun is in Leo it will remain in Leo, but by moving to a new location it enables you to find a new expression for who you are. For example your career may blossom in a new country because other people notice your talents or you may find yourself being more ambitious.

If you are in a relationship it is very useful for you to be aware of how you are likely to be affected as individuals and as a couple when you relocate. The actual effect depends on each of your birth charts, the nature of the relationship as a third entity created by both of you with a chart of its own and the consiousness/level of personal awareness of each individual.
